Description
An old quaint historic brick church near Bridgetown, on Maryland's Eastern Shore... "Bridgetown Historical United Methodist Church".
Congregation went back to a 1640 log Church of England chapel of ease. Became St. John's parish in 1737. This structure built 1773. After 138 years in the Anglican communion, the congregation and its church became Methodist Episcopal in 1778. Last renovated in 1940. It sits near a bridge over the Tuckahoe Creek, on the Queen Annes County side, though almost all of extant Bridgetown is on the Caroline County side.
