Description
The 1948-1953 Chevrolet Series 3100 half-ton pickups benefited from a redesign that took Chevy trucks into a new era of comfort, convenience, and style.
Chevy's restyled "Advance-Design" trucks were introduced in 1947, well ahead of its first new postwar cars, and little changed in appearance through 1953. The basic intent was to provide more room and comfort for occupants.
Interiors were more colorful than ever before on a commercial Chevrolet, and the dashboard was functional and more glittery.
Mechanical conveniences included interior door locks, a large steering wheel, new steering geometry for less effort, more conveniently positioned foot pedals, an accessory radio, roomy glovebox, and full needle instrumentation.
The 1948-1953 Chevrolet Series 3100 half-ton pickups also featured "four-fold ventilation" through the easy-crank-down side windows, cowl-top ventilator, foot-operated floor vent, and a fresh-air inlet on the curb side of the cowl.

Side Note:
Hi Brian,
I may have found out some information on the beautiful red Chevy truck you took a photo of. I have always liked older cars since I was a kid. I used to read (I think this is the name)'Ted's Auto' in the newspapers and also bought the book (I was probably 10-11 year's old). I still have the book. I also love going to auto shows. In high school, I had a 1969 red Chevy Malibu (like a muscle car).
I think the red Chevrolet truck you photographed may have been put together with different year parts from 1952-1958.
This is what I found:
1951 - Half way through 1951 - vent windows introduced/turn-down handles
1952 - Outer door handles become push-button type
1953 - Optional side tire
1954 - 1 piece curved windshield
1957 - Grill is a 1957 grill
1958 - Front lower lights round - were square before
I hope this helps a little. I thought you may be interested. Not trying to be 'know it all' - I was curious to find out. Also, I may not be 100%. Whoever fixed up this truck up, made it look very nice!
